Research:
Dr. Sondergard, Craig Professor of English, is the author of several books, including Sharpening her Pen: Strategies of Rhetorical Violence by Early Modern English Women Writers (2002), and The Cabala of Pegasus: An Annotated Translation of Giordano Bruno’s Cabala del cavallo pegaseo (1585) [co-authored with Madison U. Sowell]. He has published articles in journals such as The American Journal of Semiotics and Critique: Studies in Contemporary Fiction. Recently, Dr. Sondergard has been studying Chinese and is working on a translation of the 18th century Chinese writer Pu Songling’s collection of short stories Strange Writings from the Liao Studio. He has traveled several times to China to do research on Pu Songling, Confucius, and the Chinese general Guangong.
