• B.A. in Women’s and Third World History, SUNY Oswego, 1985
• Ph.D. in Modern Chinese and Southeast Asian History, University of Buffalo, 1995

• History 292 Modern Chinese History
• History 373 Japan and the US in World War II
• History 374 Women in East and Southeast Asia

I occasionally teach a course on the environmental history of East Asia, and for the last three years I’ve been teaching elementary Chinese in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.

Research Interests:

• Hainan (southern Chinese island)
• Ming and early Qing periods of Chinese History
• traditional Chinese poetry
